    Wezzit?

I ought to have known that, having been part of said "joint effort" but the rigging may not be the same, so didn't recognise it. Thought Mark Wight might have got it too. Is it the short pitch down from the end of the "Risky Business" traverse?

    Vegan food

I just emailed Ramona's - their website says that Co-op still stocks their stuff - to ask them what's happening re Settle Co-op. Otherwise the nearest place is all the way over at Lancaster (Sainsbury's). If I learn anything useful I'll post here. This is their website by the way...

For anyone in the Dales, interested in Elgar's music

Out of interest, here's a photo of the Elgar plaque on the old NatWest bank building in Settle (a few doors down from the present day Co-op). It was this which originally gave us the idea to erect a plaque about Cymmie and the BSA on the old police station building near the post office.

Evidently it's not your fault. I was told today in Settle Co-op that they'd stopped stocking Ramona's humous. Bit of a personal disaster that. Maybe those of us who like it should write to the manager to implore them to resume stocking it!

    High gill caves, Dent

This is most definitely not a "personal attack" - but I feel I ought to mention that, in general, both cavers and farmers usually benefit so much more if a spirit of co-operation pervades, rather than an adversarial approach being attempted. Remember, kick one and you kick 'em all. I'm not...

    The Castleton Mines Book

I just emailed Phil to ask him to direct his attention to this topic - and maybe PM you directly.

    On't scrounge for a skateboard

Thanks to Ed on here, I now have a fine skateboard. (y) :) Thanks also to the Bradford member who kindly delivered it today (I think his initals are JD). If the vis stays OK I plan to test it during next week.

    Pete Roe??

Yes, he's a prolific caver; done loads of exploratory stuff in Derbyshire and the northern Dales.

For anyone in the Dales, interested in Elgar's music

This news item was in the Craven Herald online today: https://www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/24307089.plan-create-elgar-museum-settles-former-natwest-bank/?ref=ebmpn&nid=902&block=article_block_a&u=5d42a96b612ede1b4ccf656435c64252&date=090524 (You may have to sign up to read the story.)...

    High gill caves, Dent

That's certainly a factor to bear in mind. If it really is to be reported, maybe get someone unconnected with our pastime to do it on your behalf? But even so I think you're right to be wary of rocking the boat.

Is the cave in the BCA logo Alum Pot?

The silhouette should perhaps have an upside down caver in it, to represent the day I took a big whipper when climbing up to the the inlet which the shower of drips comes from! :ROFLMAO:

    CPC J4-5

Huw - you should now have the full CPC Journal reference and the Kendal account, both sent by email today. Let me know the answer to my query (in one of the emails) about whether you want the original exploration account which I think is in the CDG 1955 - 1957 Diving Review. (It was the CDG that...

Best glue to stick the soles of my shoes back together?

A very good cement is Bostik 2402 adhesive. Product code 30812389. It's a 2 part glue, mixed before use. I use this to repair neoprene seals on drysuits, which are under high strain when dressing / undressing. Black Witch is nowhere near strong enough in this application but Bostik 2402 usually...

    Marble Pot on the Allotment

Worth looking at Tony Waltham's image of the 1980 collapse of glacial till that blocked it. See page 85 in Cave & Karst of the Yorkshire Dales Volume 1 (2013). Volume 2 (2017) page 363 gives useful detail of the exact position & nature of the slump. It was a very big slump so if a club has...
