    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

I checked it out yesterday before they start filling it up today. The hole is about 1m deep and extends for about a metre under the tarmac in an SE direction, ending in a vertical wall which is probably a large boulder. There is a drainage ditch in the verge on the side and I suspect that the weather this winter has caused subsidence to the soil below the tarmac. The B3134 is closed in this section for five days this week and in theory they are also starting working on the revised Miner's Arm's juction this morning. It will soon be nearly impossible to get in or out of Priddy.

I believe this was first noticed a few weeks ago by Joan Goddard of the MCG (it's not far from our cottage). She parked up to make cars pull out to avoid the hole, called Highways, then remained at the roadside until they eventually arrived to cone it off.
The temp traffic lights were on red both ways on Saturday, I waited 45 mins on hold to tell Highways then gave up. Prob still red now.
It's just a short distance from old mine workings.

Well done Joan, you would not have wanted to put a wheel down that hole. The traffic lights were working again yesterday.

Whoops. My mistake. Turns out it wasn't Joan.

Although she saw it fairly soon after it appeared, she tells me it wasn't her who reported it as there was already a Somerset CC van parked next to it with its orange safety light on, waiting for traffic lights to be set up.
